Elevated Pathways

Project Size: Multi-location accessibility improvements to elevated campus pathways

The core campus of the University of North Florida located in Jacksonville, Florida was designed and built in the 1970s as a series of two-storey buildings connected by covered and elevated pathways, that provide pedestrian access to the different structures. As the University grew, newer buildings were added with differing fl oor-to-fl oor heights. Many of these elevated pathways no longer comply with modern accessibility standards. In order to bring the campus into compliance with current standards, Powell Design Group was assigned the task of devising attractive solutions to this problem. As part of our Annual Campus Architect Contract, PDG developed creative and cost-effective solutions that are intended to be used throughout the core campus .
